123movieshub On the Rocks
I've read the Terry Brooks books for over 25 years. I've read all of them and I love them. Is this show a faithful adaptation to the letter of those books? No. Is the show terrible? Absolutely not. Any review that says it's low-budget with sub-par effects is trolling. Pure and simple. The show has effects equal to any on network or premium television and is in the same league as some big budget movies. It has the spirit of the Shannara books and I found it fun, entertaining and exciting. The first couple of episodes were a bit rushed making story transitions that were likely days seem like mere moments but that is a minor issue. My rating system is simple if I was entertained and want to see more then it at least gets a 7. I can watch it with my teenagers then it gets an 8. If I liked it enough to write a review - 10. I hope MTV keeps sex out of it (there's some near-nudity in the first 2 episodes that could have been skipped). It's not necessary and Brooks' books simply don't have it. I like the cast, the acting is actually decent (despite the ridiculous troll reviews) and in some instances good. If you like high fantasy, you will probably enjoy this. If you hate seeing young people portraying young people, or don't like fantasy then stay away.

Truth be told, I didn't even know there was a 2nd and 3rd movie to the "Lake Placid" movie, so I just came over the third movie by coincidence. So I sat down and watched it.
And then the terror began...
Oh. My. God! The CGI effects in this movie were so unbelievably poor. The crocodiles were among the crappiest CGI creatures I have seen in a long, long time. The intentions were good, but the effects were so lousy.
As for the story? Well nothing much to be expected here. You have a pretty basic "let's make a sequel" movie here. Local people and animals being eaten by monstrously big crocodiles, and a gun happy hunter is brought into the fray. And a family with troubles that somehow manages to save the day. It is all here. And it has all been seen before.
The acting, well it was wholeheartedly attempted, and actually most weren't too shabby. Some were questionable to say the least. But, of course, this is not an award winning movie, just another SyFy flick.
I managed to sit through it, but I was so tempted to get up and find something else. Which I should have done. This movie is not really entertaining, it is in the line of being ridiculous. But generally I sit through a movie once I started it. I think you have to be a really, REALLY hardcore fan of the first "Placid Lake" movie to actually fully enjoy this movie.
Well, at least it was an attempt at making a movie with giant crocodiles, it just didn't work out all that well. This is not a good choice to put on if you want to be entertained by a good wholesome movie with giant creatures. There are lots of other (and better) movies out there.

Grendel, Grendel, Grendel is a truly fantastic animated film based on the monster Grendel in the ancient Beowolf legend. It is one of my all time favourite films. The film is viewed from the point of view of Grendel the monster. He's one of those big, burly, wise, innocent and doomed monsters that legends are made of. The film works on a variety of levels. The visuals are great - bold deep colours. The soundtrack is ultra lounge and very James Bond. The story is wonderful. It is entertaining and deep, funny and sad, and has wisdom and wit thrown in as well. It's never dull, cutesy or mundane. The depth of the story, its smooth and quite referencing to wider stories, legends and theories allows interesting interpretations from a range of perspectives - mythological, historical, or psychoanalytical. It is a feel good movie with depth, design and spark. If you ever get to see the film then make sure you do.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The characters were engaging and likable, the situations were amusing, and the sets and effects were fine for what the show was trying to do.
I am interested in how much British viewers dislike it. Their main complaint seems to be that is not Red Dwarf. I have seen Red Dwarf and found it funny enough, but not something I really cared much about one way or the other. Not being a fan of Red Dwarf, I must say I don't see any similarities at all. The situations are very much different, as are the characters. I'd agree with someone here who ventured that Hyperdrive really is more a comedy version of Star Trek. I can understand that dedicated fans of Red Dwarf would like more, but shouldn't this show be judged for what it is, rather than for how it fails to meet your expectations?
I'd watch another season of it if it's made.

Unhinged 123movieshub (2020)
Release: August 21, 2020
Anyone who is a fan of Michael Des Barres' darker roles should see this -- It's as if they combined Murdoc from Cleo Rocks, Malcolm Graves from Ghoulies, the Blue Moon Killer from The Pretender, the Dark Priest from Charmed, and some LSD for good measure.
Don't let the cut-and-dried review on the back of the box fool you, however. The film weaves dreams, real-life, and Cabaret theater scenes together in such a way that you won't quite know what's what by the end, and that's a good thing.
My one complaint is that the leading lady is a bit flat in her role, but Des Barres more than compensates for her lack of screen presence.

This movie is an excellent example to show the effects of having the main actor and producer combined in one single person: It is egocentric and this focus on the main character which leaves no room for the rest makes it boring. JLH tries to be the sweet, cute, understanding lover and passionate strong artist at the same time. The plot seems nothing but to be constructed around this, all dialogues appear artificial, romantic is misleadingly exaggerated. In Fact - it's more like an extended music video than a movie. Yes, JLH has got a beautiful voice - but that's it: Nothing more! And that's not enough for a feature-length movie...

The opening 10 minutes, could have been so good, if it wasn't for weak acting and a poorly written script. Not to mention the fact that they dubbed another voice over a nurse.
After that, the movie kept me guessing, I was certain I knew how the movie was going to end, then changed my mind again and again, until it ended the way I initially expected it to.
It's a good psychological thriller about a serial killer and the movie only shows the violence that is necessary, which is in good taste.
I liked this movie overall. It killed 100 minutes of life with the flu.
In the end, I'm glad I didn't turn it off.

This movie has porn stars in it. This can only be cheesy, right?
Well, there were some good movies around this subject - remember Boogie Nights?
In certain ways, this movie is better behaved than many others that deal with sexual topics: Not a single naked nipple, as far as I could see. And the sex talk is pretty honest.
There is a lot of comic relief in it: Holly, the "dumb" sexy girl provokes a few good laughs, e.g. when she asks whether she's an immortal whore, while meaning immoral.
The acting is professional - nothing bothered me about it. The story has a few nice twists, and kept me interested right from the start.
Overall, this is a movie that not only sports a few sexy looking women but also is quite entertaining bringing up a few real-life situations (mother-child relationships, adultery, responsibility, trust, truth and porn).
It's a movie about women, and the love for them. In a way, it reminds me of Almodovar's films.
Give it a try. You won't be embarrassed!

When I was 10 I watched this movie and loved it. When I was 20, I loved it more. This is an almost unknown gem of Soviet cinema, and now I enjoy it even more. The movie is not only a very funny comedy with excellent children and adult actors, but a perfect parody of Soviet life, of the relationship between society and Soviet power. The leader of the camp is so stupid and suspicious, that he turns people one by one to "resistance fighters", living in "illegality". The ordinary "citizens" of the camp don't know who is the informer, but they do their best to help the persecuted ones. In the beginning of the 1960's, Khrushtchev suddenly let to publish one of Solzhenitsyn's books, and to make movies like this -- and then the short springtime was over, and the bold masterpieces like these were buried for the next 25 years under the gigantic heap of dull books and films. If you won't laugh a lot watching this movie, write me angry letters!

Like most sitcoms, it takes some time to eventually get into it. I do not really have the patience of watching sitcoms until they are so many episodes in and then watch to catch up and get better understanding. As for those giving it a bad review, same could be said of every other sitcom on television. Everything does not and should not have a "microwave" solution to it. Story lines take time to come together and expecting any show to be a hit from the jump is unrealistic unless obviously, you are a child liking everything sweet from the start. It is beginning to come together and for this reason, I have given it an 8.

123movieshub A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting
'Belle De Jour' is a movie which requires multiple viewing to fully appreciate. We live in an era of explicit sex and violence in movies are commonplace, and where we are very rarely required to think. 'Belle De Jour' is not like this. What you don't see is more important than what you do. It is a movie which needs a little effort on the viewers part. Persevere, you will be rewarded.
The basic plot is easy to understand. Severine (Catherine Deneuve in a superbly understated performance) is a beautiful, sexually repressed young bride. Her husband Pierre (Jean Sorel) adores her, but their marriage remains chaste. Severine suffers from dreams and hallucinations of debasement. She eventually is employed in a brothel during the day under a pseudonym, while continuing to live a bourgeois life with her unsuspecting husband. I won't reveal what happens after that.
That is the bare bones of the story, but it gives you no idea of HOW Bunuel tells it, which is what makes 'Belle De Jour' such a gem. I think this movie is one of the landmarks of 1960s cinema, and has aged wonderfully. In fact it gets better and better as most contemporary movies about sex get poorer and poorer. A movie that will haunt you. Superb!

My girlfriend and I have different tastes in movies. We usually can't decide at the theatres.
However we found ourselves constantly laughing with Finding Bliss. It had an excellent combination of humour and romance with an adult entertainment twist.
The acting was great and it was good to see familiar faces. I've always liked Denise Richards and she was very good in this movie. Leelee Sobieski was also entertaining.
I highly recommend this movie! I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

I thought I had seen this movie, twice in fact. Then I read all the other reviews, and they didn't quite match up. A man and three young students, two girls and a boy, go to this town to study alleged bigfoot sightings. I still feel pretty confident that this is the movie I saw, despite the discrepancies in the reviews. Therefore I'm putting my review back: If you like the occasional 'B' movie, as I do, then Return to Boggy Creek is the movie for you! Whether it's setting the sleep timer, and nodding off to your favorite movie-bomb, or just hanging out with friends. Boggy Creek, the mute button, and you've got a fun night of improv. Look out! Is the legend true? I think we just might find out, along with a not-so-stellar cast. Will there be any equipment malfunctions at particularly key moments in the film? Does our blonde, manly, young hero have any chest hair? Will the exceptionally high-tech Technicolor last the entire film? You'll have to watch to find out for yourself.

The Call 123movieshub (2020)

Postwar Ozu, and by contrast to prewar films, little has changed; clear, composed eye, quietly enduring lives, even in the face of near-complete destruction.
Once more, a primary point lies in the edifying fable of the thing. The father is absent, authority if you will, core social integrity, always a looming absence in Ozu, and the orphaned kid will have to rely on the fundamental kindness of the world. Of course that world rises to the occasion, overcomes ego, harshness, in this case no doubt fostered by the hard reality of the times. Instead of scavenging alleys for nails to piece back together destroyed homes, it is asserted that selfless love should take care of that.
This is asserted in a clumsily unsubtle way, straight to the camera. Ozu was back at Shochiku from wartorn Manchuria, and it should not be underestimated, so were many Japanese, back from whatever gruelling role they were forced to play in the war.
To better understand this conservative need for closure, you have to note the way Ozu closes the film. The woman wanting to take care of another orphaned kid is pointed to the direction of Saigo's statue in Ueno Park - where it stands to this day. Saigo was a popular hero famous in conventional history for the last stand of the old samurai faction against plans for a modernized Japan. The ill-advised Tom Cruise film portrays the events.
This is enough to give us pause. Here's a director who had been unerringly forward-looking 15 years ago, had fervently embraced modern foreign film and widely referenced Western mores, no longer a youthful cinephile but sobered from the experience of war, who points for inspiration to this paragon of samurai virtue and ethos. Japan might as well forget the bold experiment with an empire that ended in such humiliating defeat, and look back instead to the simpler times when feudal lords and their police maintained coherence of the world.
This is a pity. The eye is clear but dulled by emotion, making for languid flow but without insight. Japan would have to wait another 10 years for the next generation of forward-looking filmmakers to look deeper into the ruins.

For the most part Season 5 is wonderful, and it's obvious why Tony Randall snagged the EMMY for it, but Paramount Home Video has destroyed what has got to be one of the most joyous moments in t.v. sitcom history. In the last episode when the the minister announces that Felix and Gloria are once again husband and wife, Oscar erupts into a dance and belts out "I'm Singing in the Rain." Not so in this truncated release. The song is wiped out completely and the scene is ruined. Could the rights to the tune really have been that expensive? There are other musical edits throughout the season, but this one is unforgivable.

I absolutely loved this movie! I'm Russian and speak Russian but was not born there, nor have I ever visited. It was an amazing experience for me to see modern Moscow rather than seeing it solely in old Russian classics. The main actors acted VERY well and were VERY good-looking. Some might argue that the plot is a copy of other superhero movies, BUT: every story will always be similar to another. What matters most is the execution. I loved the morals (gently incorporated into the plot) and the action was great. The person-to-person dialogue was very natural and often put a smile on my face. I hate gory movies so this was perfect for me. Definitely go watch it, it's a MUST see!
By the way, I'm giving it a 9/10 instead of 10/10 due to some scientific inaccuracies.

I saw this movie at The Newport Beach International Film Festival 1997 and can't believe that it has not yet been distributed in the US! (If as a result of reading this comment. a US distributor acquires Darklands, I want a 10% commission because if Blair Witch is anything to go by, with good marketing, this movie could make a mint - hell why don't I just set up my own label and distribute it through Amazon!).
Darklands is a seriously weird and subversive movie which unlike Blair Witch, succeeds in delivering a number of shocks - not to mention the ending, which quite literally had my jaw on the theater floor. If you like alternative, offbeat, cult movies > then Darklands is a must

Turning Off at 30! Turning 30! had a lot of speculation because it's from Prakash Jha's stable and you have the lass from Dor and Dhoop. However the speculation and reality does not always go together. Sometimes a small script is filled with chewing gums to stretch it to make a full movie. The debutant director Alankita Srivastav , a long time assistant of Prakash Jha, was good in patches. The film was like a soap straight from the TV sitcoms. And this time the Gum was doses of endless beer and 'F' words, endless one night stand jokes, pre marital sex, smooches, sharing relationship, a quick Court win, all silly jokes about mid age-ers, gays and lesbians, lady Chetan Bhagat, wonder Bra and a Raunchy Gigolo Bar. The director used all the urban masala and lingo but forgets to mix in well with right proportions. Somehow when I see the projects where Alankita had her works gives a disagreement that she is the same lady who worked as an assistant in movies like Dil Dosti etc, Gangajal, Khoya Khoya Chand, Apharan etc...
Gul Panag, impressive but she is better on Twitter. The actor works perfectly in patches and suits the role of women turning 35. She was subtle and in the skin of the character. She was excellent as a desperate girl who wanted her BF badly and was begging with her breath and submission, when his guy came to collect his stuff. But failed when she needed to mouth those unspeakables. Another remarkable performance was Tillotama Shame, the girl who played the lesbian BFF. She was too natural with the emotions and the eyes. Definitely another find by Mr Jha, She is worth a watch. Rest of the characters were just doing their roles in their own limitations. Purab kohli was a waste and didn't have much to prove. The music and background score was just OK to be there. And so was the screenplay and a very average cinematography. There were few one-liners which can be picked up by the youth but overall a very patchy an substandard work. None of the songs were catchy or worth listening. The end speech of the movie was well crafted and got a good effort from the protagonist. Too cliché at times, mix of 'Sex & City' and 'Bridget Jones's Diary' had nothing new to offer. Wished more Hindi in this Hinglish Chick Flick.
